About the Opportunity
The Communications Officer role at WMO’s GEO Secretariat offers a unique opportunity to lead and support strategic communications within a global environmental initiative. Based in Geneva, Switzerland, this fixed-term position focuses on enhancing the visibility and impact of Earth Intelligence through communication, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement.
In this role, you will contribute to the development and execution of communication strategies aligned with the GEO Post-2025 Strategy. You will work closely with senior leadership to craft speeches, presentations, and messaging that translate complex scientific concepts into clear, impactful communication for diverse audiences.
This position is ideal for experienced communication professionals who are passionate about climate, sustainability, and global development, and who want to play a key role in shaping international narratives around Earth intelligence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic communication and advocacy initiatives
- Draft speeches, talking points, and presentations for senior leadership
- Disseminate GEO content across media and digital platforms
- Track and analyze media coverage and communication performance
- Support fundraising efforts through communication materials and presentations
- Produce newsletters, reports, and promotional materials
- Support communication activities for international events and conferences
- Develop content for websites and social media channels
- Coordinate video production and external communication services
Who Can Apply
- Candidates with a Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, or related fields
- Professionals with at least 5 years of experience in international communications
