International Students: Step Into Excellence through UWA’s Global Excellence Scholarship 2026

The University of Western Australia (UWA) offers the Global Excellence Scholarship to outstanding international students who demonstrate strong academic performance. This prestigious award supports high-achieving learners who intend to begin an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate program at UWA in 2026.
Successful applicants may receive:
- Up to AUD $48,000 over four years for eligible undergraduate degrees, or
- Up to AUD $24,000 over two years for eligible postgraduate degrees.
The scholarship is granted as an annual tuition fee reduction for the standard full-time duration of the recipient’s course. The total value awarded is based on the applicant’s equivalent ATAR (for undergraduate entry) or UWA Weighted Average Mark (WAM) (for postgraduate entry).

Scholarship amounts depend on the applicant’s equivalent ATAR score:

Postgraduate applicants are assessed based on WAM:

Eligibility Criteria
General Eligibility
To qualify, students must:
- Be international applicants from any country.
- Receive an offer for an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate program commencing in 2026.
- Meet the minimum academic entry requirements:
- ATAR of 85.00 or higher, or
- WAM of 65.00 or higher
- Students applying through approved International Academic Pathways must achieve a WAM equivalent above 75.00.
Additional global qualification conversion guidelines are available through UWA. Other qualifications may be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Undergraduate Eligibility
Applicants must apply for an eligible bachelor’s degree or an Assured Pathway program.
The following pathways are not eligible:
- Assured Pathway to Medicine
- Assured Pathway to Dental Medicine
Postgraduate Eligibility
Applicants must be applying for an eligible postgraduate coursework program.
The following degrees are excluded:
- Juris Doctor
- Doctor of Medicine
- Doctor of Dental Medicine
- Doctor of Optometry
- UWA Micro-credentials
Combined Bachelor’s & Combined Bachelor’s + Master’s Eligibility
All Combined Bachelor’s and Combined Bachelor’s and Master’s (CBM) programs are eligible for the scholarship.
Most CBM degrees span four years (eight semesters). However, some Engineering-based combined degrees, including:
- Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Commerce
- Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Science
extend to five years (ten semesters). Eligible students in these longer programs may receive up to AUD $60,000, with annual award amounts determined by WAM.
